SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – An area of low pressure is expected to develop over the northern Gulf coast over the weekend. This system will bring increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms our way beginning mainly on Sunday afternoon and especially Monday. We have declared Monday as a first alert weather day, on the low end, due to some excessive rain expected. Right now the rainfall totals look to be 2-4 inches possible on Monday.
Before all of the heavy rain on Monday we can expect to see partly cloudy skies on Friday with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms mainly inland. Highs will warm into the mid to upper 80s with heat indices in the mid 90s.
Same thing expected for Saturday with a few late day showers and thunderstorms developing along the sea breeze and then moving inland…
