SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – This evening, numerous thunderstorms are expected across the Suncoast as moisture surges in from the east and the sea breeze pushes storms westward. The strongest cells could bring gusty downburst winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall.
A few storms may even produce small hail.
Storm activity should gradually wind down after sunset, with lingering showers possible into the early morning hours.
A ridge of high pressure has drifted slightly north, producing winds out of the southeast across the Suncoast. Together with humid air through all levels of the atmosphere, this is will promote the shower and thunderstorm development along the sea breeze again on Thursday…
