Sarasota officials seem likely to approve a new townhome across from Sarasota Commons, as the city’s housing boom extends eastward.
The complex would be called “Sage Park Townhomes,” at 930 N. Beneva Road, just north of Fruitville Road and east of the Bobby Jones Golf Club. The plans call for 83 attached townhomes, with a maximum height of two stories, and 160 parking spaces. The developer did indicate unit prices or the breakdown of sizes, but the market-rate in the east side of Sarasota would likely be lower, as that area ends to be younger and lower-income than the bayside areas.
The developer behind the project is D.R. Horton, which bills itself as “America’s Largest Homebuilder.” The company was recently involved in a stymied effort to build a housing subdivision near the Celery Fields bird sanctuary…
