Changes could be coming to where marine vessels can anchor, operate near Sarasota beaches

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — City commissioners voted to have staff look into regulatory language controlling mooring and operating vessels within a certain distance of beaches citywide. They also directed staff to look into regulatory language related to commercial usage for the rental of jet skis or other marine vessels.

The decision comes weeks after a deadly jet ski crash near South Lido Beach that left 19-year-old Orioles minor league player Luis Guevara dead. The head-on collision left three others injured.
