Bradenton man tells deputies he accidentally shot his dad in the neck: MCSO

BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is facing a manslaughter charge following what he claims was the “accidental” shooting of his 76-year-old father, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said it was just before noon on Tuesday, July 29, when they received a report of a shooting inside a home on Baypointe Terrace in Bradenton.

They arrived to find 35-year-old Ian Douglas rendering aid to his elderly father, who had been shot once in the neck, according to the sheriff’s office.

Emergency medical personnel tried to help 76-year-old Andrew Douglas but, despite their efforts, said he could not be revived. Andrew Douglas was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m.
