Robbery Suspects Evade Florida Law Enforcement in Multicounty High-Speed Chase, Vehicle Found Submerged in Hillsborough County Pond

A high-speed chase spanning multiple counties in Florida concluded with a submerged vehicle and suspects on the run. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the incident began with a robbery in Manatee County, with law enforcement pursuing a 2025 Toyota sedan associated with the crime. According to WFLA, the pursuit started at approximately 2:32 a.m., and the FHP, alongside the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, worked together in the chase.

Despite their efforts, the FHP lost sight of the sedan, later receiving a crash alert notification from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was ultimately found submerged in a pond at Gibsonton Drive and Mathog Road. “Troopers lost sight of the sedan and received a crash alert notification from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, where they found the vehicle submerged in a pond,” according to WFLA report. The joint search involved FHP aviation and dive teams but did not result in locating the suspect(s).

Initially, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office began the pursuit after a robbery where the victim reported selling personal items to three men, one of whom brandished a gun.
