SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB ) -The Suncoast will bake today with “feels like” temperatures approaching 110 degrees in some places, especially inland. A Heat Advisory is in effect for Manatee and Hardee county from 11am to 7 pm today.
High pressure remains in place over the Suncoast with the Atlantic ridge stretching across southern Florida. As a result, the winds will again be light and out of the southeast. The light nature of the winds will allow the sea breeze to form early and move inland. This will spart showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the early afternoon near the coast. Moisture will be lacking and showers will be few in number. The nature of the high pressure ridge is intrinsically sinking air. This makes the rising air necessary for shower and thunderstorms difficult to develop. The best chance for bigger rains will be well inland where sea breezes, east and west, might collide.
Therefore, rainfall coverage will be limited. Some showers might linger into the early part of tonight, but conditions should become mostly quiet overnight…
