VENICE — Local law enforcement agencies haven’t lost any personnel because of the recruitment bonuses being offered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t offended at the attempt.
Venice Police Chief Andy Leisenring said no one on his force has even talked about accepting the offer, and he’s not concerned about it.
The reason the bonus is so high, he told the attendees at Friday’s South County Tiger Bay Club lunch, is that signing up could mean being sent to a less-than-glamorous location. If so, the recruit might just work a couple of years and quit…
