A shocking video shows a young child running across a Florida highway at night and nearly being struck by a car before a police officer saves him.
In footage published by the North Port Police Department, located about 50 miles north of Fort Myers, the department’s Sergeant James Shield can be seen driving on Highway 41 on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when a child appears on camera, running across lanes of traffic.
The video shows the child, seemingly wearing no shoes, running through the street just as a white SUV drives by, narrowly missing the child. Shield then quickly turns on his lights and sirens, making a U-turn and honking to warn ongoing drivers as the child makes it to the other side and runs through some grass…
