Bradenton restaurant collecting donations for Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – After an overwhelming show of support for the people of Jamaica following record-breaking Hurricane Melissa, Rodney’s Jamaican Grill has announced that they are collecting donations.

In a social media post, the restaurant said they are accepting unopened nonperishable food and toiletries and will then ship the items in barrels to the island.

Requested items include:

  • Canned meats (corned beef, Spam, sausages, etc.)
  • Canned vegetables
  • Boxes of macaroni and cheese
  • Bags of white rice
  • Bags of kidney beans
  • Toiletries (shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.)
