Man gets felony conviction in cat killing

SARASOTA — A Sarasota man was sentenced Wednesday after pleading no contest to killing a neighbor’s pet cat.

George H. Boyd, 63, 1600 block of 11th St., was adjudicated guilty of aggravated cruelty to animals, a third-degree felony, and sentenced to 15 days in the county jail, with credit for time served, and 36 months on probation, according to court records.

Additionally, he’s not allowed to own any pets or intentionally interact with any animals while on probation; must donate $1,000 to an animal charity; can’t own any firearms or projectile weapons; and must complete an eight-week anger-management class…
