SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said deputies shot and killed a man early Saturday morning after a reported suicide attempt.
Man shot, killed during ‘roadway dispute’ in Ybor City; shooter claims self-defense
Deputies responded to a residence on Cardigan Circle in Sarasota at around 12:39 a.m. after a report that someone had attempted suicide, the sheriff’s office said. When they arrived, they found a man armed with a handgun.
The sheriff’s office did not confirm whether the armed man was the person who attempted suicide, and didn’t say who called the police.

Little information has been released about the incident, but a “confrontation” ensued, ending with the suspect being shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
