Bradenton Beach wildlife rehab reopens after major storm damage

SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN) — After two consecutive hurricanes left Bradenton Beach’s Wildlife Inc. in ruins, the nonprofit rehab center has officially reopened, and animals are once again being cared for inside the rebuilt facility.

For more than a year, the organization operated out of temporary rooms after storm damage destroyed most of its main building. Director Gail Straight said the destruction was unlike anything the center had ever faced.

“We got destroyed,” Straight said. “Basically, the whole house was destroyed. The rehab was destroyed. We had no walls, no anything.”…
