Bradenton Student Uses SCF Business Degree to Support Family and Community

Aaron Rodriguez, a resident of Bradenton, Florida, is a first-generation college student at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF). He comes from an immigrant family and worked in his family’s automotive collision repair business before starting at SCF in January 2024. His parents’ work influenced his decision to pursue higher education. Aaron plans to graduate in December 2025 with an associate degree in business management and marketing. He hopes to use his education to help his parents with their business and support their retirement.

At SCF, Aaron is active in campus organizations. He participates in the TRIO Student Support Services program, is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, serves as treasurer of the Future Business Leaders of America club, and is vice president of the Student Government Association. He credits staff members, including Dr. Kristen Anderson, Leah Nusman, Dr. Raúl Fernández-Calienes, and Dean Jaquelyn McNeil, for their support.

Outside of school, Aaron spends time with family and friends. He works as a lighting designer at Bayside Community Church and enjoys hobbies such as Jiu-Jitsu, running, skateboarding, and sewing.
