The St. Petersburg Police Department recently announced the retirement of Sergeant Chris Turbee, who concluded a career spanning more than two decades in law enforcement. Sgt. Turbee, a St. Petersburg native, earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Milligan University in Tennessee and began his career with the department on April 5, 1999. Over the years, he served in Community Policing, as an undercover detective in Patrol, and in the Special Investigations and K-9 Units.
Turbee was promoted to sergeant in 2016, where he led a midnight squad and later served as supervisor of the K-9 Unit for over seven years. “Congratulations to Sergeant Chris Turbee on his retirement!” the department’s Facebook post read. During his time with the K-9 Unit, Turbee worked alongside his partner Jaeger and hired Stella, the department’s first female bomb-detection K-9, a Golden Retriever who assisted at events including Rays games and the Grand Prix.
