Scattered thunderstorms overnight

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A band of thunderstorms will move south across central and southwest Florida tonight. The showers and thunderstorms will weaken as they drop south. That means rainfall could be minimal for parts of the Suncoast. Northern areas could receive more rain than southern areas. By Sunday morning, any lingering showers will end.

Ahead of the cold front, winds will pick up out of the South and Southwest. By Sunday morning, high pressure will begin to build in behind the front and winds turn to the Northwest. Skies will be clearing on Sunday with drier air returning to start the workweek. High pressure stays with us next week, giving us our Suncoast sunshine and gradually warmer temperatures. Highs near 80° could return to end the first week of 2026.

The Tennis, Pickleball, and Golf forecast is a bit breezy as winds pick up out of the South today.

Otherwise, we’re looking at a dry day with any rain holding off until the evening hours.

Beach conditions are breezy on Saturday and Saturday night. Winds are out of the South to Southwest at 10 to 20 mph on Saturday. Rip current risk increases during the day, and always check the flags at lifeguard stations. Rip current risk is could be a factor on Sunday with Northwest winds at 5 to 15 mph. Water temps are holding in the mid-60s.

Boating conditions could deteriorate this weekend. By late Saturday and into Saturday night, the combination of storms and building winds could create hazardous situations for smaller vessels…
