U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on a Guatemalan arrested for driving without a license in Sumter County.
Mateo Zavala Mejia, 28, of Bradenton, was driving a white Nissan passenger car at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bushnell when a deputy ran the vehicle’s license plate and discovered the vehicle’s registered owner did not have a valid driver’s license, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
During a traffic stop, it was confirmed that Zavala Mejia did not have a valid driver’s license and that the native of Guatemala had been convicted in 2022 of driving without a license in Marion County. He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County…..
