SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The construction for a multi-family housing apartment building in the Rosemary District in Sarasota is raising concerns, not because of lane closures, but because of construction workers using nearly all of the on-street parking on N. Lemon Ave.
Seaward CrossFit co-owners said they noticed the construction workers using the spots in December, and it’s now starting to impact their business. They said their clients and coaches are having trouble finding public on-street parking to go to their classes.
“We serve a couple of constituencies that are particularly sensitive to this issue. One is older folks; if they have to park far away, it’s just not manageable for them to have to walk the distance to get here, and also single moms or moms with kids that are trying, you know, have to bring a car seat or a stroller or toys or whatever in order to get themselves to the gym. So we think this is probably an issue that’s not just impacting us and would like the city or the contractors that have these projects to consider the impact that taking up all of the parking in the district is having on small businesses,” said Seaward CrossFit co-owner Tim Riesen…
