FAA recommends more training to prevent the cause of recent crashes in Venice

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) – The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a recommendation for all pilots to receive additional training to deal with a phenomenon known as spatial disorientation, which has been blamed for two recent fatal crashes at Venice Municipal Airport.

In a notice issued Jan. 22 called an Information for Operators, or InFO, the FAA said since 80% of all aviation accidents have “human factors, the FAA recommends a greater focus on SD training beyond the scope of current guidelines.”
