Venice abandons idea of reopening jetty park

VENICE — The potential multi-million-dollar price tag has erased any sentiment among City Council members to try to reopen Humphris Park before the South Jetty is rebuilt.

The cost could run as high as $4.65 million, according to a staff estimate, depending on how long it would take to get a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit and the amount of work it would require of the city.
