Sarasota County man accused of breaking into home, getting into bed with sleeping woman

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A man broke into an occupied home, got into bed with a sleeping woman and later struck her during a confrontation, Sarasota County authorities said, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kenneth Ray McCoy II, 49, faces charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, battery with a prior conviction, and violation of pretrial release in a domestic-violence case, court documents show.

Deputies were called Feb. 28, 2026, and met with the victim, who said she woke up to find McCoy in her bed and ordered him to leave.

The woman said McCoy argued with her and threw objects inside the home, including a metal ashtray that damaged a wall and a glass of coffee in the kitchen, the affidavit states…
