New Sarasota restaurant blends supper club and speakeasy vibe

Sarasota County’s newest special-occasion dining destination — Masō — is part supper club and part speakeasy, with reservations required for its 36-seat dining room.

Co-owners Broc Smith and Jeremy Rice teamed with executive chef Richard Demarse to open the fine dining restaurant in February in a space last occupied by Puccini’s at Merchants Pointe Shopping Center, 2881 Clark Road.

The menu, which is available online at masō.com, includes some traditional staples such as filet mignon, prime ribeye and fresh grouper, as well as a rotating list of entrees and appetizers made from the freshest food available, Smith said.

‘Private dining perfected’

The tagline on the restaurant’s Facebook page reads: “Private dining, perfected. Locally Owned Steakhouse, Raw bar, Fresh Local Seafood, fine wine priced to enjoy.”…
