Venice Council might need to review mixed-use allocations

VENICE — The City Council approved the annual mixed-use capacity update to the comprehensive plan Tuesday, with an alert from Planning and Zoning Director Roger Clark that some proposed changes to the percentages assigned to the city’s seven neighborhoods may be coming.

The mixed-use — residential and nonresidential development minimums and maximums for dwelling units and square footage in each neighborhood — have to be updated at least annually, Planning Manager Amy Nelson told the Council. For the most part, they’re below the 75% threshold that also requires a report, but a few aren’t.

Most notably, the East Venice Avenue Neighborhood is at 152% of its units maximum and 120% of the maximum square footage…
