A realtor in The Villages has been banned from a local Walmart after skip scanning merchandise.
MaryKay Childress, 62, of the Village of Largo, is poised to escape prosecution after two instances of theft at the Neighborhood Walmart at Sarasota Plaza. The Wisconsin native has been allowed to enter into a pre-trial intervention contract that places her on probation for six months, requires her to pay a $150 fine and mandates that she complete a shoplifter’s anonymous course. She must also stay out of Walmart. If she successfully completes the terms of the contract, two misdemeanor charges of theft will be dismissed.
Childress was caught on surveillance on Aug. 2 using the self-checkout aisle where she skip scanned $57.57 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying for the items, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
