Venice Shooting: Sarasota County Sheriff Nabs Suspect In Year-Long Murder Mystery

VENICE, Fla. – Sarasota Sheriff’s Office detectives have finally shuttered a nearly year-long search for answers, booking a Venice resident into the Sarasota County Correctional Facility this week. Zachary Bolin, 32, was taken into custody without incident on Wednesday, March 11, facing a charge of Homicide: ‘Murder Dangerous Depraved without Premeditation.’

The case dates back to the early morning hours of April 22, 2025. Deputies first arrived at the 3900 block of South Tamiami Trail around 1:56 a.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk.

Upon arrival, they discovered Patrick Alan Warrick, 42, suffering from gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and abdomen. Despite the efforts of first responders, Warrick was pronounced dead less than an hour later, at 2:31 a.m…
