The Bradenton Police Department reported that southbound 1st Street was closed between Manatee Avenue and 9th Avenue for a crash investigation. The road has since reopened. Around 3:30 a.m., a driver traveling south on 1st Street lost control and struck several poles. Speed is believed to have been a factor. The 39-year-old driver died from his injuries, and no other passengers were in the vehicle.
