The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners has approved Phase 1 of the Fresh Start initiative, a new program designed to help people experiencing homelessness. The first phase will include 62 beds, kitchen and dining areas, laundry and lounge spaces, offices for support services, and secure outdoor areas. Construction is expected to begin in late April 2026 and take about 180 days.
