Family of man killed in Clearwater Ferry crash ‘exhausted’ after Jeff Knight returns to courtroom

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — The family of a man who was killed after a private boat owned by St. Petersburg businessman Jeffrey Knight ran over the Clearwater Ferry in April 2025 said they are “exhausted” after another pretrial hearing on Monday.

Jose Castro’s family walked into the courtroom for another pretrial hearing as they continue to wait for the trial scheduled for February 2027.

“We were not expecting to wait this long for the trial, but there is nothing we can do,” Castro’s sister Sandy Todd said. “We need cooperation from the Coast Guard.”…
