8 NYC Bars That Serve Free Food With Every Drink — From Pizza to Popcorn

Make sure your next beer comes with a complimentary pizza.

A crisp beer enjoyed with a mustard-topped hot dog or a fizzy cocktail served alongside a slice of pizza are already two perfect pairings, but there is one effortless way an establishment can immediately make either combo even better: by giving you the food for free.

Even in New York City, where you’ll often pay the highest prices for food and drink in the country, some bars are risking slimmer profit margins by doling out free food with their drinks. To find a free happy-hour bite in the Big Apple, you don’t need to start Googling — one content creator is using his platform to post about as many NYC bars that offer free food as possible.

Bi-coastal creator Tanner James (@taannr) has tried and reviewed eight free bar bites in the city so far. These complimentary snacks and meals aren’t fancy or fussy, but some are surprisingly delicious, and they all pair well with a cold beer.

Goldie’s

The free snack at this Brooklyn bar is a nod to its name: Every customer gets an endless supply of free Goldfish. Pair the salty, cheesy crackers with a Cheetahrita, one of Goldie’s house cocktails, a frozen margarita topped with beer. In his online review, James also notes that “they have a sick karaoke room that can accommodate a ton of people,” so this may be a good birthday party pick.

Cozy Corner

Located in Ridgewood, Queens, Cozy Corner is dishing up a free slice of cheese pizza with every drink over $7. James tells Food & Wine that you’ll get “one good slice rather than a full personal pizza” and notes in his review that he’s a fan of the slice’s tomato sauce. It isn’t surprising that Cozy Corner’s free pizza is actually good — the establishment operates as a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, and pizzeria.

The Charleston

You won’t just get a complimentary slice at The Charleston in Williamsburg; You’ll also get a free personal cheese pizza with each drink you purchase. If you’re craving something specific, you can add toppings like pepperoni, mushrooms, or sausage to your pie for $1 each. Head here earlier in the evening, as the bar’s generous offer of free personal pizzas ends at 7 p.m…
