Man Found Deceased inside Car on Jerome Ave near Woodlawn Cemetery Entrance

Police said an investigation is underway after a man was found deceased inside a car just north of the Norwood-Woodlawn border on Thursday, July 2.

A police spokesperson told Norwood News that police received a 911 call on Thursday at 2.30 p.m. for a wellness check at 3901 Jerome Avenue.

Police said upon arrival, officers found a person inside a car who was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. Asked if there was a description of the person, the spokesperson said he didn’t have an age but the person was male. Asked if there was an investigation underway, police said there was.

When Norwood News visited the scene later on Thursday night, we spoke to a man who was hanging out with adults and some kids who were playing in a paddling pool on the side of the avenue.

Speaking in Spanish, the man said he had not been there earlier when the body was discovered but that a carwash worker operating at the side of the avenue told him that he had allegedly noticed the person in the car and had called 911. The car washer had left the location at that point.

According to some videos posted to the Citizens’ App, it appears that the parked car was located roughly around the entrance to Woodlawn Cemetery just north of Woodlawn subway station and a short distance from the entrance to Mosholu Golf Course…
