State of Emergency declared in Paramus

PARAMUS, N.J. (PIX11) — The mayor has declared a local State of Emergency due to the extensive damage caused by the severe storm that rolled through on the evening of the Fourth of July.

During the storm, trees toppled, with some even fully uprooted. Several even fell onto power lines or in front of homes, causing a mess on the streets.

Some neighbors say the intensity of the storm reminded them of Superstorm Sandy.

“It was shocking. Nobody assumes that these big trees are going to cause so much damage,” said Natasha Kaul, a Paramus resident. “People’s houses are impacted. Their lives are impacted, and we are all out of electricity.”…
