Former Hudson County Superintendent Stole $250K: Prosecutor

A 58-year-old former  Hudson County Superintendent of Weights and Measures stole $250,000 for his own personal gain, authorities announced Tuesday, July 14.

Frank Alonso, a Union City resident, is charged with three counts of official misconduct and multiple theft offenses, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

Between January 2024 and January 2026, Alonso diverted funds intended for the Hudson Regional Health Commission, the Office of Weights and Measures, and the New Jersey Weights and Measures Association into accounts he used for personal gain, Mello said…
