New York Bus Driver Moves to Stafford County Jail After Deadly I-95 Crash That Killed Five Near Quantico

STAFFORD, VA — Jing Sheng Dong, a Staten Island bus driver charged in a deadly May 29 crash on Interstate 95 near Marine Corps Base Quantico, has been moved from the hospital to jail.

Authorities said Dong was released from medical care Monday night and taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail in Stafford. He is charged with five counts of involuntary manslaughter and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.

What police say happened

Investigators say Dong did not slow down in time when his coach bus entered a work zone in the southbound lanes. The bus hit a Chevrolet Suburban, setting off a chain-reaction wreck involving seven vehicles.

The bus was carrying 34 passengers from New York City to Charlotte, North Carolina. Police said 44 people were taken to hospitals after the crash, including three who were critically hurt.
