NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Bronx man has been indicted for allegedly defrauding multiple homeless shelter residents in an apartment voucher and credit card theft scheme, said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr.
David Aguero, 24, a housing specialist at a Manhattan homeless shelter, stole more than $4,000 from shelter residents between March and June 2026, according to court documents.

Aguero allegedly told the residents, who had obtained city-issued housing vouchers, that they needed to pay him directly to secure an apartment, according to investigators.
He then took thousands of dollars in cash or electronic transfers from them. Aguero also allegedly used personal information that he obtained from one of the residents to open two credit cards in their name…
