STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance to identify an individual sought for questioning in connection with an incident where a man’s religious head covering was allegedly slapped off near the Staten Island Ferry terminal in Manhattan.
A 39-year-old man was attempting to enter a commercial establishment on Whitehall Street near the Whitehall Ferry Terminal around 1 p.m. on May 5 when he was approached from behind by an unidentified individual, according to a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
That individual then allegedly slapped the 39-year-old victim’s yarmulke off his head before fleeing on foot along Whitehall Street, according to the NYPD statement…
