A little over one year after an immigration raid at a nutrition bar factory in Cayuga County, the New York Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit on behalf of four of the people detained by federal agents during the raid on Sept. 4, 2025.
The lawsuit names individual agents for the Department of Homeland Security, Border Patrol and Immigration and Custom Enforcement. Additionally, the lawsuit names Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck and Oswego County Sheriff Don Hilton.
“It’s clear that ICE, CBP and county sheriffs worked together to violate New Yorkers’ constitutional rights, engage in racist and xenophobic conduct, and devastate hardworking Central New York families,” said NYCLU supervising attorney Perry Grossman in a press release. “We cannot stand idly by as officers walk into workplaces and seize whoever they want — including U.S. citizens — for questioning, with no basis whatsoever. The officers who perpetrated these abuses must be held accountable for their flagrant disregard of the Constitution and the immeasurable pain they have inflicted on these New Yorkers.”…
