A Jersey City man is dead after a vehicle struck him on one of Hudson County’s busiest roadways in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to NJ.com. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office identified the victim as Glenn Minasian, 58, a Jersey City resident.
The collision occurred around 5 a.m. on Routes 1&9 near Duncan Avenue. Jersey City police arrived to find Minasian with serious injuries. He was transported to RWJBarnabas Health Jersey City Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Driver Remained at the Scene
The vehicle involved did not flee. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the Prosecutor’s Office reported. No charges have been announced.
Prosecutors have not released details on the circumstances leading up to the impact, including where exactly Minasian was on the roadway at the time.
Section of Highway Shut Down
A portion of Routes 1&9 was closed for four hours as part of the investigation. The Prosecutor’s Office announced the fatality in a statement issued Friday, the day after the crash.
