A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg outside a deli on East 138th Street in Mott Haven Monday afternoon, and as of Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made in the case. Police responded to a 911 call for a person shot at 460 East 138th Street just after 11:14 a.m., finding the victim with a gunshot wound to his left leg.
The shooting happened outside Ali Deli & Grocery, according to Hubbiz. EMS transported the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, as reported by News12 New York. The NYPD said the victim is 31 years old.
The shooting occurred on East 138th Street in Mott Haven. Surveillance footage from the deli or nearby cameras could help investigators identify a suspect.
A Precinct Already Stretched by Robbery Numbers
The shooting falls within the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 40th Precinct, which operates out of a newer, $85 million station house at 567 East 149th Street that opened in late 2024 with the city’s first dedicated public community room, according to Open House New York.
