In an ongoing investigation into used cooking oil thefts locally, Ti Police arrested two man from the New York City area. — TICONDEROGA | As part of an ongoing investigation into several thefts of used cooking oil from Ticonderoga area restaurants, two downstate men were arrested Sept. 19 and charged with attempted theft of used cooking oil from a restaurant on Burgoyne Street.
Ticonderoga Police report that as they were conducting surveillance at a Burgoyne Street restaurant, they witnessed two men in a U-Haul van attempting to remove used fryer oil from an oil storage tank on the property. An inspection of the van revealed two large tote tanks containing used frying oil, a portable pump and PVC tubing.
Freymi Hernandez, 23, from Yonkers and Emmanuel Marmolejos, 27, from New York City were taken into custody, charged and released on their own recognizance with orders to return to Ticonderoga Town Court at a future date. Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues…
