NEW YORK (PIX11) — A nursing home is one of seven buildings that tested positive for live bacteria connected to the Legionnaires’ disease cluster in the South Bronx.
The New York City Department of Health conducted culture tests on 10 buildings, including Yankee Stadium, after they all yielded positive PCR tests.

Seven of the culture-tested buildings confirmed live Legionella bacteria within their cooling towers. These addresses tested positive:
- 567 Melrose Ave.
- 3339 Park Ave.
- 820 Concourse Village West
- 470 E. 161st St.
- 890 Washington Ave.
- 1160 Teller Ave.
- 1265 Franklin Ave.
1160 Teller Ave. is a nursing home, meaning some of the most vulnerable people to Legionnaires’ disease reside in a place where the cooling tower was contaminated with the live bacteria associated with it.
The health department assured residents at a town hall Tuesday that all seven towers were cleaned and disinfected early last week and present no current dangers to the older New Yorkers living in the home or any of the other previously infected buildings…
