After less than a day of deliberations, a Hudson County jury awarded a retired Union City Police Officer at least $853,000 in his discrimination case where he alleged he wasn’t promoted because he is Dominican, with a decision on punitive damages coming tomorrow.
After deliberating for a few hours following closing statements by the defense and plaintiffs, the jury returned with a verdict around 2:30 p.m. at the William Brennan Courthouse under the purview of Hudson County Superior Court Judge Kalimah Ahmad.
