N.J. nursing home questioned if she was ‘actually disabled.’ Then she was fired, lawsuit says.

A New Jersey nursing home is facing a federal lawsuit over accusations it discriminated against a disabled employee, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said.

The lawsuit claims Optima Care Fountains revoked a certified nursing assistant’s reasonable accommodations and then fired her in December 2024 based on her disability.

The suit alleges that during a meeting to discuss her accommodation, the employee’s manager questioned whether she was actually disabled and demanded she provide a doctor’s note clearing her to work without restrictions, or otherwise be fired…
