New York, NY – New Yorkers preparing for the 2026-27 winter season could experience warmer-than-normal temperatures across much of the state, including New York City, Buffalo, Rochester and Albany. However, significant snowfall, icy roads and periods of dangerous cold remain possible despite the warmer seasonal outlook.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), its seasonal outlook issued Thursday, October 15, favors above-normal temperatures across New York from November 2026 through January 2027. The warming signal extends across the Northeast and much of the Great Lakes region.
