SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. — A man wanted in connection with the robbery of a Brooklyn bishop was killed by law enforcement officers attempting to arrest him Wednesday.

Law enforcement at the scene told CBS New York’s Alecia Reid he was with his girlfriend, comparing them to a Bonnie and Clyde, saying they were wanted for crimes in several states.

Law enforcement sources confirm Shamar Leggette was shot and killed by United States Marshals.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead went live on Instagram on Wednesday night to address the deadly shooting.

“This was the guy that put the gun in my wife’s face and put the gun in my 8-month-old daughter’s face . So this is the guy that was at large, and he came and put the gun to my head and ripped my clergy collar off and ripped my chains off. He was just brutal,” Whitehead said.
