Young mom Sophia Rostom was attacked while visiting a friend in Brooklyn’s Farragut Houses
A woman who was stabbed 14 times and lost nearly half of her blood at a Brooklyn apartment complex is suing the New York City Housing Authority, alleging that it failed for five years to fix the broken door her accused attacker used to get inside the building.
In the lawsuit , which was reviewed by The Messenger, Sophia Rostom accuses NYCHA of negligence, and seeks unspecified damages.
The 26-year-old mom, was attacked on March 28, 2023 while visiting a friend who lives in the Farragut Houses, according to the suit.
While waiting for the lobby elevator, Rostom was attacked, allegedly by ex-convict Maurice Brister , who stabbed her 14 times — in her head, heart, arms, lungs, buttocks and one of her legs, according to authorities.
Brister allegedly stabbed another woman that same day, according to authorities. He’s pleaded not guilty, and his criminal case is ongoing, public court records show.
