Feds, Nassau cops seize assault rifles, explosives, gun silencers in raid of West Hempstead house

A Long Island man is facing Felony gun charges after Homeland Security and Nassau County Police raided his house on Pauley Drive in West Hempstead.

Police said Paul Spampinato, 59, accepted delivery of two gun silencers in a controlled buy at his residence Thursday morning, February 1, 2024.

According to court filings, the deal was sealed at 7:30 a.m.

They moved in.

Nassau County Police, the County Sheriff, and 0Homeland Security Investigators had a search warrant for the whole house, dated January 24, 2024. They turned the building inside out.

Police say they found:

· an AK-47 rifle with threaded barrel

· a Commando Mark 45 caliber assault rifle

· a Ruger Precision assault rifle

· 3 “Polymer80” kits, no serial numbers, used for making guns, and Glock slides

· 2 Model 1911 handgun frames, no serial numbers

· 2 five-lb. bags of Tannerite pellets

The two silencers that had just been delivered were charged as “attempted” possession.
