(Alabama)– According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), 761,100 residents of Alabama received SNAP Benefits in 2022.

The Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) SNAP application states that the maximum monthly amount a single household can receive in SNAP benefits is $281. Each additional person in a household can add $211 with eight household members being the maximum household number used in making SNAP benefit amount determinations.

On Feb. 5, 2024, Newsweek reported that migrants living in New York City are now eligible for a new program, giving them $350 monthly to spend on food and baby supplies.

Newsweek’s article stated:

Use is limited exclusively to local bodegas, grocery stores, supermarkets, and convenience stores to ensure that city funds are going to food and baby supplies. The Office of Mayor Eric Adams stressed that the cards will act similarly to SNAP benefits and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards and that the program is a “cost saving measure” that will save the city $600,000 a month.
