NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man shot in the ankle during a robbery in Midtown Manhattan later died of a blood clot linked to the injury, and his death has been declared a homicide, police said.
Two men assaulted the victim, a 35-year-old man, who was visiting his tailor on Jan. 6, at 247 W. 38 St., at around 1:30 p.m., according to the police.
Cops responded to a 911 call around that time about a man who had a gunshot wound to his ankle.
The victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition at the time.
Nearly a month later, the Office of Chief Medical Examiner deemed the incident a homicide after the victim died of blood clot on Feb. 4.
Jarel Moore, 38, and Richard Johnson, 34, were charged with robbery and assault for shooting him. However, they were not charged with murder.
Johnson was arrested on Jan. 27, and Moore was arrested on Monday, Feb. 5.
Moore will be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court on Feb. 7, and Johnson is being held on $100,000 bail, according to public records.
