New NYC program will create 1,500 permanent affordable housing units for homeless

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new program will help find permanent homes for 1,500 New Yorkers currently living in the city’s shelter system. On Thursday, Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) Commissioner Molly Wasow Park launched the Affordable Housing Services (AHS) initiative, which will create affordable homes for homeless New Yorkers with City Fighting Homelessness and Eviction Prevention Supplement (CityFHEPS) vouchers.
