2 arrested after police pursuit ends in crash in Manhattan: NYPD

MANHATTAN. N.Y. (PIX11) — Two people are in police custody after an overnight police chase in Manhattan ended in a crash, officials said.

The pursuit started on FDR Drive and 59th Street around 1:14 a.m. when police officers tried to pull the driver for allegedly speeding, according to the NYPD. The driver allegedly took off, heading towards the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel before crashing at Church and Park streets, authorities said.

Citizen video shows the totaled car with police officers and EMS at the scene.

A passenger is in police custody, and the driver was taken to a local hospital. The driver allegedly swallowed drugs and will be facing charges, according to police sources.
